Metro Manila (CNN Philippines) — The Wisconsin State Assembly voted on Wednesday PHT to spend $250 million in public funds on a new arena for the Milwaukee Bucks.
The new arena ensures that the Bucks will stay in Wisconsin, and newly re-signed forward Khris Middleton is looking forward to calling Milwaukee his home.
“I’m glad that we’re staying in the city of Milwaukee in Wisconsin,” said Middleton, who is in the Philippines for the NBA FIT. “It’s great to be there for the long term and I hope the fans and the people are excited for us to be there also.”
Middleton, who was a restricted free agent, reportedly signed a five-year deal with the Bucks this offseason.
“Milwaukee is somewhere I want to be longer,” said Middleton. “We did a good job of building on my first year there.”
“It was somewhere I felt I had the chance to grow as player, as a person and achieve some great things with that team in that city there.”
Last season, the Bucks were a surprise package in the Eastern Conference as they clinched the sixth seed with a 41-41 record.
Unfortunately for the Bucks, they were ousted by the Chicago Bulls, 4-2.
“Making it to the Playoffs was the big time for us, it was a big deal to get that experience,” said Middleton.
