Import Arizona Reid after winning first PBA title: ‘I’m retiring

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines) – San Miguel Beer import Arizona Reid got what he had badly wanted, so he is retiring.

Well, at least from playing in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA).

Finally, on Friday (July 17), Reid hoisted a championship trophy in the first play-for-pay league in Asia following failed attempts with former team Rain or Shine Elasto Painters.

“I’m retiring,” bared the sweet-shooting reinforcement after his team swept the Alaska Aces in four games in the Governors’ Cup finals at the SMART-Araneta Coliseum.

“I’ll be going home and I just want to chill.”

But the 29-year-old import with long dreads said it could have been better if he won the Best Import award.

“The championship is more important, but I could have made it better with the Best Import award,” he said in jocular fashion.

The two-time Best Import awardee is happy nonetheless.

Reid capped his PBA campaign by scattering 33 points, on 3-of-6 shooting from downtown, in Friday’s conquest of the Aces.
