After a brief hiatus that prompted their fans to fear that the group already disbanded, The 1975 returned online at midnight of Monday (June 1) with a whole new “identity.”

Asked why they chose color pink despite being known for dressing in black from head to toe, the band’s frontman Matty Healy released an open letter to fans explaining the band’s “new chapter” which will begin with the release of their new full-length album.
“This is the beginning of a new chapter for The 1975,” Healy said. “Our record signifies the start of a new world for us, a more colorful world a less colorful world.”
