UP Biology student graduates with near-perfect average

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines) — Tiffany Grace Uy of the University of the Philippines Diliman will not only graduate from her BS Biology course as a summa cum laude, but she will graduate with a near-perfect grade average of 1.004.

She surpassed the previous record set by BS Mathematics graduate John Gabriel P. Pelias, who earned a general weighted average (GWA) of 1.016, in 2011.

Uy received a grade of 1.00 in all her subjects, except Art Studies.

Following Uy is Emir-Deogene V. Mendoza, BA Public Administration with a grade of 1.101, and the third highest is Gabriella Victoria A. Timbancaya, a BA Psychology student, with a grade of 1.107.

Summa cum laude is the University of the Philippines’ highest academic distinction for graduates who earned a GWA of 1.20 or better.
