NBA: Wade, Lakers reportedly have ‘mutual interest’

The Lakers have plenty of cap room and signing Dwyane Wade (left) is a move they can consider in free agency.

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines) — Will we see Dwyane Wade in a Laker uniform next season?

According to a report by Chris Mannix of Sports Illustrated, Wade and the Los Angeles Lakers have “mutual interest.”

Wade, who is currently in a contract dispute with the Heat, has the right to opt out of his current deal with Miami and if he decides to exercise that option, he is due to make $16.1 million next season.

The Lakers, who is known to have plenty of cap room, is expected to make splashes in free agency and signing Wade is a move they can consider.

“While many execs still see Wade/Heat as contract saber rattling, a Wade option will be the Lakers. Mutual interest, per league sources,” Mannix said in a tweet.

He also added that it would be “hard to see L.A. offering Wade a better chance to win than Miami, especially in the West. But it is L.A., and they do have money to burn.”

The 33-year-old Wade has spent his entire 12-year career with the Heat.
