(CNN Philippines) — Most Filipinos still prefer the non-violent approach in dealing with the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF), according to a recent survey by the Social Weather Stations (SWS).
The survey, released on May 3, asked the respondents as to which between the peaceful negotiations or military operations is the more effective way to deal with the MILF.
Forty-five percent of the respondents said peaceful negotiations between the government and the MILF are more effective than military operations, but this is 17% lower than the 62% in the same period last year.
Twenty percent of the respondents think the government going into military operations with the MILF will be more effective. This rose by 11 points from 9% in the same period last year.
Thirty-five percent of the respondents think both approaches are equally effective.
