(CNN Philippines) — It is the time of the year when the biggest losers in the National Basketball Association (NBA) could become the biggest winners via the NBA Draft lottery.
Minnesota, which finished the regular season with league-worst 16-66 record, claimed the first pick in the 2015 NBA Draft on Wednesday (May 20 PHT), marking the first time the Timberwolves secure the top draft pick in franchise history.
It is also the first time since 2004 that the team with the worst regular season record actually received the top pick.
The Los Angeles Lakers and the Philadelphia 76ers claimed the second and third picks, respectively.

The 2015 NBA Draft will be held in the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York on June 26 PHT.
