(CNN Philippines) — World No. 1 Serena Williams will lead the Manila Mavericks in the second edition of the International Premier Tennis League (IPTL) in December.
The league conducted a draft on Sunday (April 12) where Williams, who suited up for the Singapore Slammers last year, was picked by the Manila team.
Aside from Williams, the Mavericks also roped in Milos Raonic, Mark Philippoussis, Richard Gasquet, Jarmila Gajdosova, Borna Coric, Sabine Lisicki, and Fil-Am Treat Huey.

Rafael Nadal will star for last season’s champions, the Indian Aces, with Gael Monfils, Agnieszka Radwanska, Fabrice Santoro, Ivan Dodig, Sania Mirza, and Rohan Bopanna.
The UAE Royals, who selected first in the draft, will consist of Roger Federer, Ana Ivanovic, Coran Ivanisevic, Marin Cilic, Daniel Nestor, Kristina Mladenovic, and Tomas Berdych.
Recent Miami Open winner Novak Djokovic will play for the Singapore Slammers together with Nick Kyrgios, Carlos Moya, Marcelo Melo, Belinda Bencic, Thanasi Kokkinakis, and Karolina Pliskova.
The Japan Warriors, a new team announced during the draft, is headed by crowd-darling Maria Sharapova, who previously played for the Mavericks.
Her team will include Marat Safin, Lucas Pouille, Daniela Hantuchova, Leadner Paes, Vasek Pospisil, Kurumi Nara, and Kei Nishikori.
