Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, August 24) — A fire broke out in a compound in Dampol in Pulilan, Bulacan that affected three storage facilities, authorities said Thursday.
The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) said the blaze started before midnight and has reached fifth alarm.
Speaking to CNN Philippines’ Balitaan, Miles Albert Pagtalunan, acting municipal fire marshal inspector, said one of the affected establishments is still on fire but the situation is already contained and under control.
Pagtalunan said firefighters were having difficulty putting out the fire, as the facilities were located in a 1,400-square-meter area. He added that the collapsed roofs and walls of the structures, as well as the highly combustible plastic pellets they stored, also posed a challenge.
So far, 20 fire trucks from across Bulacan have been deployed to the area.
Pagtalunan said the cause of the fire is still being investigated and that no injuries were reported.
