MMDA needs 7,000 enforcers amid absence of NCAP

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, August 22) — The Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) said Tuesday it lacks sufficient manpower to monitor the traffic management and violations of all local government units in the region.

“Talagang kulang po yung tao namin para magbantay sa aming jurisdiction. Nakaapekto po yung suspension ng NCAP (No Contact Apprehension Policy),” MMDA Acting Chairman Romando Artes said in a briefing on Tuesday.[Translation: We really don’t have enough people to watch over our jurisdiction. The suspension of NCAP doesn’t help.]If NCAP was still being implemented, he said MMDA’s 2,500 field personnel would suffice.Without NCAP, MMDA needs 7,000 enforcers.“Talagang kailangan namin… to cover 17 LGUs,” he said.[Translation: We really need that to cover 17 LGUs.]
