Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, August 19) — Ahead of the start of classes this August, Vice President and Education Secretary Sara Duterte reminded public school teachers and administrators to remove all wall decorations in classrooms to enable students to focus on lessons.
“Tiyaking malinis at walang mga dekorasyon, tarpaulin o mga posters ang mga silid-aralan upang magkaroon ng focus ang ating mga mag-aaral sa mga leksyon mula sa ating mga guro,” Duterte said on a Facebook post, citing guidelines from DepEd (Department of Education) Order No. 21, Series of 2023.
[Translation: Let us make sure that the classrooms and the whole school are clean and tidy…Make sure the classrooms are clean and free of decorations, tarpaulins or posters so that our students can focus on the lessons from our teachers.]
