Metro Manila (CNN Philippines) — On the sidelines of the 25th World Congress of Dermatology in Singapore, Unilever brands Dove, Vaseline, POND’S Skin Institute, and CLEAR assembled dermatologists with a respected social media presence across Southeast Asia at the House of Beauty & Wellbeing: Science Edition.
The agenda: to help remove the guesswork on skincare and haircare while combating misinformation and pseudo-science proliferating on the internet. According to Unilever’s \”The Simple Truth Report\”, 80 percent of consumers agree that misinformation is rife in the sector, while 73 percent feel as though social media can be a source of confusion. As a result, 87 percent of consumers are calling for change.

The House of Beauty & Wellbeing: Science Edition urged guests, medical experts who are also content creators, to help change the beauty industry’s social media landscape for the better by sharing #DermFacts. With more and more people looking to social media for beauty tips and trends, medical experts have the opportunity to keep these platforms safe with skincare and haircare information backed by science.
Among the misconceptions the event corrected is that all bar soaps are harsh and strip the skin of essential nutrients. This has been debunked by Dove whose Beauty Bar has been cleansing and moisturizing the skin, leaving the face and body feeling soft, smooth, and more radiant than ordinary soap.
