Egay’ exits PAR, all storm signals lifted

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, July 27) — Typhoon Egay (international name: Doksuri) left the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Thursday morning, the state weather bureau said.

In its 11 p.m. bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) also lifted all Tropical Cyclone Wind Signals over affected areas in the country.

Egay was last spotted 315 kilometers west of Itbayat, Batanes – already outside the country’s monitoring area and entering the Taiwan Strait.

PAGASA said the enhanced southwest monsoon, or habagat, will continue to bring rains in Luzon and Western Visayas on Friday.

Zambales, Bataan, Cavite, Romblon, Antique, and Kalayaan Islands will also experience monsoon rains on Saturday.

Tropical depression outside PAR

Meanwhile, a tropical depression being monitored is expected to develop into a typhoon before entering the PAR on Sunday, PAGASA said.

But PAGASA’s five-day weather outlook shows the tropical depression might not affect the Philippines’ landmass, weather specialist Loriedin dela Cruz said.

“Nananatiling mababa ang tsansa ng direktang maapektuhan ang ating landmass [the chance of it directly affecting our landmass remains low],” she said.
