Marcos calls on Filipinos to ’embrace technology’

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, July 17) — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. calls on Filipinos to embrace technology as the administration pushes for the digitalization of government processes.

\”With the power of technology, we can break barriers and bridge gaps in ways that we have never been able to do before,\” Marcos said on Monday.

Marcos led the launch of the Electronic Local Government Unit (eLGU) System and the People’s Feedback Mechanism (eReport), which are components of the Department of Information and Communication’s (DICT) eGov PH Super App.

The president said the eLGU and eReport will help eliminate layers of bureaucracy as he urges all national agencies and LGUs to collaborate with the DICT.

\”I am optimistic this system will be used to help curb criminality, lawlessness and ensure immediate responses to various incidents around the country thereby making our communities safer for everyone,\” Marcos said.

DICT chief Ivan John Uy and Interior and local government chief Benjamin Abalos joined Marcos during the launch.

Abalos said 58% of all LGUs are currently implementing online business permitting systems.

He believes the eLGU system will fast track efforts to digitalize LGUs. It covers various local government services such as business permit licensing, notice of violations, health certificates, local civil registry, and real property tax.
