Luzon grid under yellow alert

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, July 11) — The Luzon grid is currently on yellow alert Tuesday afternoon because of thin energy reserves caused by the tripping of a power plant, the Department of Energy (DOE) said.

The DOE said the National Grid Corporation (NGCP) raised the alert effective 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. The San Lorenzo natural gas power plant in Batangas tripped shortly before 11 a.m.

The department noted that “the scheduled contingency reserve is already below the level of the highest unit online.”
