Magnitude 5.6 earthquake jolts Dalupiri, Cagayan

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, June 17) — A magnitude 5.6 earthquake hit Dalupiri island, Cagayan Saturday night.

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said the tectonic quake was located 10 kilometers north of Dalupiri Island and struck at approximately 6:15 p.m.

No damage is expected but the agency warned of aftershocks.
Phivolcs reported the following intensities:
Intensity IV (moderately strong) – Burgos, Ilocos Norte; Calayan, Cagayan
Intensity III (weak) – Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte
Intensity II (slightly felt) – City of Laoag, Ilocos Norte
It also noted the following instrumental intensities, or vibrations recorded by monitoring instruments which may not have been felt, in the following areas:
Intensity IV – Pasuquin, Ilocos Norte
Intensity III – City of Laoag, Ilocos Norte; Aparri, Cagayan
Intensity II – City of Batac, Ilocos Norte; Gonzaga, and Peñablanca, Cagayan
