
Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, May 4) — An earthquake hit Isabela on Thursday morning, state seismologists reported.
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) initially said the tremor had a magnitude of 5.8, but it later downgraded it to 5.5.In an advisory, Phivolcs said the tremor happened at 8:49 a.m. and the earthquake’s epicenter was located north of Maconacon town in the province.While the agency said it does not foresee any damage, aftershocks are still expected.The following earthquake intensities were registered in these areas:
Intensity 5 (strong) – Peñablanca, Enrile, and Tuguegarao City, Cagayan
Intensity 4 (moderately strong) – Balbalan, Pinukpuk, and City of Tabuk, Kalinga; City of Batac, Ilocos NorteIntensity 3 (weak vibrations) – Marcos, and San Nicolas, Ilocos Norte
