Visit a vintage t-shirt exhibit

With over 11,000 followers on Instagram, collector Gerard Cosicol of Vintage Yubec has gained an international following for his catalog of carefully selected vintage band t-shirts that you often can’t find anywhere else. Scroll through the Cebuano tee provider’s Instagram catalog teasers and see rare t-shirts that could very well be artifacts of fashion history, like a vibrant David Bowie “In Beautiful Colors” tee from the ‘90s, or a 1994 Hole tour shirt with a “Live Through This” print at the back. On May 19, Cosicol is holding a one-day art trade exhibit at Modeka Art Gallery in Makati to take a new approach to the idea of vintage by bringing it into a fine arts setting. Apart from showcasing some of the hard-to-find pieces in Vintage Yubec’s catalog, the exhibit will also feature an art piece by contemporary artist Dyza Saco that’s made of acrylic and vintage band tees that were damaged by dry rot. Admission to the exhibit is free. For more details, check out @vintageyubec on Instagram. — CNN PHILIPPINES LIFE STAFF

Change up your hair routine with Japanese cult favorite Tsubaki

Let’s keep it simple — Tsubaki changed my life after one shower. Since 2006, this Japanese haircare brand has had a loyal fan base among those looking to achieve long, silky tresses, kind of like every member of NewJeans. Now the brand is available in Manila, offering full haircare systems that address various hair concerns. I recently tried the Premium Volume and Repair Range (₱938 for the bundle on their official LazMall store) that aims to rejuvenate flat and lifeless hair. Tsubaki’s golden repair ingredients include royal jelly, camellia oil, and soy protein are meant to supplement the main components of one’s hair. The results were instant: air dried and left down, my hair actually changed in texture: bouncy but not frizzy, silky but not flat. So much so that a friend I had lunch with that day actually reached out to touch my hair. I can’t blame her. I was pretty surprised myself. The Premium Ex Repair Mask (₱674 on LazMall) claims to have 0 seconds wait time. Silky hair in an instant. Can’t wait to try that out next. — MARGA BUENAVENTURA

Make Serenitea x Locally’s Tropical Mocktails your little fun drink of the day

I’m not exaggerating when I say that the heat these past few weeks has been brutal. It’s been difficult to get even the simplest tasks done, because any form of movement — heck, even no movement at all — would still mean that I’d be covered in sweat within minutes. I’ve been getting by in two ways: by stationing my laptop in an optimal spot by a fan switched on number two, and by treating myself to a little fun drink for the day. This little fun drink is usually an iced-up homemade matcha latte, or if I’m feeling good (read: not acidic) that day, a cold glass of calamansi juice. It’s a Very Good day when I get to indulge in a milk tea or iced coffee. Last week’s fun drinks of choice came from the Locally and Serenitea collab. The two brands teamed up for a line of Tropical Mocktails that combines three of Locally’s blended juice flavors with Serenitea’s black teas. The result: The Paloma, a pomelo-based drink that has tones of blue tea and rosemary; the Guyana, a guyabano-based drink with banana and topped with banana chips; and finally, my favorite out of all, the Rosey Dalandan, a dalandan base with roselle tea and minty black tea. The flavors are only available until June 15, so grab these fun drinks at your nearest Serenitea store today or order online today. — GABY GLORIA
