PH’s Ian Bautista defends gold after outboxing Asri Udin at 32nd SEA Games

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, May 13) — Ian Clark Bautista on Saturday outboxed his Indonesian foe Asri Udin in the finals of the men’s boxing 57 kilogram tournament at the 32nd Southeast Asian Games in Cambodia, defending his gold medal from the previous year.

The 28-year-old orthodox fighter won via unanimous decision—sweeping all three rounds against the Indonesian.

Bautista’s win gave the country its 32nd gold medal at the biennial Games.

His teammate, two-time SEA Games gold medalist Rogen Ladon, lost via decision to Thailand’s Thanarat Saengphet under the 51 kg division and took home a silver medal.

Bautista first tasted SEA Games gold in 2015 in Singapore. He settled for bronze in 2017 in Kuala Lumpur, and in 2019 in Manila.
