“Over 167,000 Maynilad lifeline customers affected by water interruptions\ \ to get rebates \n”

More than a million households in Metro Manila and nearby provinces will bear the brunt of the planned cut in supply by Maynilad and Manila Water.

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, April 29) — Around 167,500 lifeline customers – or those who consume less than 10 cubic meters per month – will get rebates on their May bill due to the water service interruptions, west zone concessionaire Maynilad announced on Saturday.

The water service interruptions were caused by reduced production at the Putatan Water Treatment Plants, according to Maynilad.

\”Maynilad is giving the rebate in consideration of ‘lifeline’ customers who were constrained to pay a minimum charge though they were not able to consume a full 10 cu.m. given the service interruptions affecting their area,\” the water concessionaire said in a statement.

\”The total rebate to be given amounts to ₱10.81 million,\” it added.

The lifeline accounts eligible for the rebates are those in Pasay City, parts of Makati City, Parañaque City, Muntinlupa City, Las Piñas City, and Cavite City.

Maynilad explained that the rebate will be equivalent to the cost of the unused portion of 10-cu.m. minimum consumption for the month of March.

\”This means that if these customers only consumed 1 cu.m. in March but had to pay the ₱136.00 Minimum Charge for 10 cu.m., they will be entitled to a rebate of 9 cu.m., or ₱121.98. Hence, the rebate amount will vary, depending on the customers’ actual March 2023 consumption below 10 cu.m,\” the statement read.
