
Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, April 19) — The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) has rejected the appeal of telcos to extend the SIM registration deadline, insisting SIM owners only have until April 26 to register.
The DICT said on Wednesday it received the request of the telcos, but the agency did not provide an explanation for the rejection.

But the DICT expressed confidence that it will pass the high court’s scrutiny.
“We believe that the principle of the SIM Card Registration Act does not impede on any right of any person. In fact, there are sufficient safeguards to protect your privacy with this particular law,” DICT Assistant Secretary Jeffrey Ian Dy said.
