Kath Arado out, Bang Pineda in for SEA Games volleyball tourney

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, April 11) — Prized libero Kath Arado has begged off from the Philippine women’s volleyball national team for the upcoming Southeast Asian Games in Cambodia next month.

She will be replaced by Akari Chargers’ Bang Pineda as one of the liberos alongside Creamline Cool Smashers’ Kyla Atienza.

According to Premier Volleyball League’s (PVL) website, the development was confirmed by Philippine National Volleyball Federation (PNVF) national team committee chairman Tony Boy Liao.

The PNVF said that Arado is still recovering from injuries she sustained during the recently concluded PVL All-Filipino Conference.

Arado won the Best Libero award in the recent conference after she helped the PLDT High Speed Hitters land a Final Four finish.

The women’s volleyball national team is also composed of Jia De Guzman, Celine Domingo, Jema Galanza, Tots Carlos, and Michele Gumabao of Creamline; Gel Cayuna and Glaudine Troncoso from Cignal HD Spikers; Dell Palomata from PLDT; Cherry Nunag and Kat Tolentino from Choco Mucho Flying Titans; and Mylene Paat from Chery Tiggo Crossovers.
