
Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, March 31) — The Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA) has begun its probe into the deadly fire that hit MV Lady Mary Joy 3 off Basilan.
Pursuant to the directive of MARINA Administrator Atty. Hernani Fabia under Special Order No. 364-23, our Enforcement Service (ES) has commenced the marine safety investigation of MV Lady Mary Joy 3,” the agency said in a statement Friday.The vessel was carrying over 200 passengers when it caught fire along the waters of Baluk-Baluk Island, leaving at least 28 people dead.The ferry’s operator, Aleson Shipping Lines, Inc., said it has already extended financial assistance to the victims’ families.
