Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, March 3) — Prosecutors junked an obstruction of justice complaint against the father of one of the fraternity members linked to the hazing death of Adamson student John Matthew Salilig, the Department of Justice said on Friday.
The complaint was filed against the father of the owner of the vehicle used to transport Salilig’s body. He was arrested.
After the fraternity initiation rites, a witness said the vehicle was used to transport Salilig from Binan, Laguna, to Imus, Cavite.
The witness also said Salilig died in the vehicle, and was buried in a shallow grave in Cavite.

The complaint was dismissed due to \”lack of probable cause with reasonable certainty of conviction,\” DOJ spokesperson Mico Clavano said.
Clavano also said the father would be released.
Meanwhile, one more fraternity member tagged in the death of Salilig surrendered to authorities, Clavano said.
\”He will also go through the same inquest proceeding afforded to the previous six respondents and that will take place sooner, either today or tomorrow and we will see if he will also avail of the waiver of Article 125 just like the other six respondents,\” he said.
Seven of the 15 respondents in the hazing case are now under police custody.
