Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, December 11)— The Department of Education (DepEd) has begun pulling out learning materials in warehouses of its logistics provider over storage fee issues, an official said on Monday.

Education Undersecretary Omar Romero told a congressional hearing that the agency was informed that Transpac Cargo Logistics Inc. was willing to release the materials earlier this month.

\”The position of Transpac is that the pullout should be no later than December 31, which, to be honest, is unlikely that DepEd will be able to pull out all the goods,\” Romero told the House committee on basic education.

The DepEd said it asked for a two-week extension.

Pasig Rep. Roman Romulo, committee chairperson, raised the issue before ending the hearing that tackled a number of bills.

Romero informed the committee that the DepEd terminated its contract with Transpac on the undelivered goods stored in 15 warehouses for almost a year.
