
Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, October 13) — The government will bring home eight Filipinos from war-torn Israel on Oct. 16, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said Friday.
\”There are at least 22 Filipinos in Israel who have indicated that they want to go home. The first batch at the government’s expense will be leaving on Oct. 16 – there are eight of them,\” Foreign Affairs Undersecretary Eduardo De Vega told reporters.
\”Once they arrive, they’ll be given the proper assistance. The usual reintegration and other assistance packages provided by the DMW (Department of Migrant Workers) and the OWWA (Overseas Workers Welfare Administration),\” De Vega added.
The conflict in Israel erupted on Oct. 7 when militant group Hamas attacked southern Israel from its Gaza enclave.

The DFA also confirmed the death of a third Filipino in the conflict, while three others remain missing.
