Firm launches lending feature in seafarers’ super app

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, October 10) — The firm behind a super app for seafarers has launched a lending feature to aid seafarers financially, especially during months of rest when their savings are usually depleted.

In partnership with financial firm OnePuhunan, tech company Four Blades Philippines allows seafarers to borrow up to double their wages through their app PropelMe. They just have to submit their seafarer’s ID and employment contract.

\”If they meet the requirements of documentation, it’ll be done within the day,\” said Peter Baek, Propelme chief strategy officer. \”As soon as they’re approved, about a day, they will be receiving the money.\”

\”We think that to have a single place, a single super app that provides a set of services to the seafarers really adds value for them,\” OnePuhunan president Daniele Rovere said.

The PropelMe app also features listings of job offerings, discounts and maritime news.

It can also help seafarers track their maritime certificates, records and renewals.

The new app can be downloaded on the Apple App Store and Google Play.
