Marcos pushes for expanded cooperation with China in meetings with top officials

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, January 4) — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. highlighted the need to expand the Philippines’ cooperation with China in separate meetings with Beijing’s top officials on Wednesday.

On the second day of his state visit, Marcos first met with National People’s Congress chairman Li Zhanshu. They tackled the importance of the two nations’ trade and economic ties.

“The relationship must extend to commerce, culture, education, trade and investment, as well as people-to-people exchanges, the President stressed,” read a statement from Malacañang.

Marcos also expressed hope that the East Asian giant will continue its investments in the Philippines, it added.
