Weekend LPA leaves over ₱200M in damage to infrastructure, agriculture

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, January 10) – The low pressure area (LPA) that drenched several regions over the weekend left damage worth more than ₱200 million, according to the Office of Civil Defense (OCD).

The OCD on Tuesday said damage to infrastructure was estimated at ₱125 million, and ₱77 million for agriculture.

Among the regions affected were Bicol, Western and Eastern Visayas, Mimaropa, Northern Mindanao, Davao, Caraga, and BARMM.

The OCD added that 815 families or 3,387 individuals remain in evacuation centers so far.

The agency urged local government units to review geohazard maps and map out flood and landslide prone areas to prevent or minimize damage and casualties.
