Metro Manila, Philippines – The University of the Philippines Streetdance Club (UPSDC) clinched back-to-back titles in the UAAP Streetdance Competition, delivering a nostalgic and high-energy tribute to iconic Filipino heroes on the dance stage.

The Diliman-based squad brought beloved characters to life through its routine, featuring figures such as Gagambino, Lastikman, Zsa Zsa Zaturnnah, and Captain Barbell, before culminating in a powerful finale with the iconic superheroine Darna.

Team captain Angelo Bocobo underscored the mental challenges of competing as defending champions, pointing to a crucial learning moment after the team placed second in the College Division of the World of Dance Philippines qualifiers.

“Narealize namin, even the greatest athletes need to lose sometimes para marealize nila kung paano manalo ulit — and ito yung result non,” Bocobo said.

[Translation: We realized that even the greatest athletes need to lose sometimes to understand what it takes to win again — and this is the result of that.]

The University of Santo Tomas Prime (UST Prime), which has now finished second for two consecutive years, energized the crowd with a performance inspired by Chinese culture.

La Salle Dance Company–Street (LSDC-Street) secured third place, bringing the audience back to the month of love with its interpretation of Ben&Ben’s “Araw-Araw.”

UPSDC topped the competition with 93.33 points, followed closely by UST Prime with 92.70, and LSDC-Street with 90.33.

Meanwhile, Adamson University Dance Company–Street claimed the championship in the high school division, with UST Galvanize finishing second and FEU-Diliman T.A.M. Streetz placing third.
