Metro Manila, Philippines – The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) advised on Sunday of airspace restrictions within the vicinity of Mayon Volcano.
The agency noted that flight operations are prohibited from the surface up to 11,000 feet within a 6-kilometer radius from the volcano’s summit.
With alert level 3 maintained over Mayon, CAAP noted potential hazards such as volcanic ash, airborne particles, and sudden volcanic activity that may affect aircraft engines, navigation systems, and overall safety
“All airline operators, pilots, dispatchers, and aviation stakeholders are advised to closely coordinate with Air Traffic Services and monitor official updates before operating in affected areas,” it said.
Earlier today, CAAP announced the cancellation of two Cebu Pacific Air flights on the Manila–Daraga–Manila route, affecting 231 passengers, who were advised to coordinate with the airline for options on rebooking or refunding their tickets.
