Savoring Spanish flavors at Spain Fusion

Spain Fusion: The Premium Experience, organized by Vocento Gastronomía (the team behind the globally renowned Madrid Fusión), arrived in Manila on April 20 at The Westin Manila, Ortigas Center, Mandaluyong for a one-of-a-kind food tasting and cooking masterclass. The event, held in partnership with the Government of Spain, brought together Michelin-starred chefs and industry experts for a rare culinary showcase.

The finest ingredients and the most renowned Spanish chefs

For the past five years, Spain Fusion, with the support of Foods and Wines from Spain, has traveled across the globe to share the country’s rich culinary heritage through its authentic flavors. This year, it opened its doors in the Philippines, introducing a lineup of premium Spanish products and ingredients curated by some of the industry’s most respected names.

At the heart of the event was a masterclass in flavor led by a powerhouse team of Michelin-starred chefs, including Albert Adrià, former creative director of the legendary El Bulli and now chef-owner of Barcelona’s two-starred Enigma; Ricard Camarena of his namesake two-starred restaurant in Valencia; and Chele González of the one-starred Gallery by Chele in Manila.

Other huge names in the culinary world who graced the event as speakers included Fernando Mora, Spanish Master of Wine; Alfonso Fernández, Food Fetishist and Olive Oil Expert; and Rosa Vañó, Founding Partner of Castillo de Canena Olive Juice.

A launchpad for culinary innovation

Beyond the tasting experience, Spain Fusion positioned itself as a platform for culinary exchange and innovation, creating opportunities to introduce Spanish flavors to new audiences while fostering long-term collaborations within the industry.

Pairing Spanish ingredients with local cuisine also opens new possibilities for tourism and dining. These cross-cultural collaborations are expected to contribute to a more dynamic culinary landscape while supporting the broader food community and local economy.

Celebration of a shared passion for excellence

“More than a culinary showcase, Spain Fusion: The Premium Experience is a celebration of the shared passion for excellence that unites two vibrant cultures,” said Benjamín Lana, managing director of Vocento Gastronomía.

The event signals a promising step forward for Filipino food lovers and industry professionals, with premium Spanish ingredients set to become more accessible in the local market. By bringing together Spanish craftsmanship and Filipino sensibility, Spain Fusion introduces a new layer of flavor and perspective that could shape the next wave of the local dining scene.
