Metro Manila, Philippines – Fuel surcharges for both domestic and international flights will be slightly lower in early May after the Civil Aeronautics Board (CAB) reduced the level from 19 to 18.
In its latest advisory, the CAB said the adjusted surcharge will apply from May 1 to 15.
Despite the reduction, passengers should not expect a significant drop in airfare costs, as rates remain near the upper end of the surcharge scale following the Level 19 implementation from April 15 to 30.

Under Level 18, airlines are allowed to impose fuel surcharges ranging from P593 to P1,734 for domestic flights booked within the period.
For international flights, the surcharge ranges from P1,958.44 to P14,561.87, depending on the distance.
Surcharge levels also remain significantly higher than those recorded prior to the escalation of tensions in the Middle East earlier this year.
According to the International Air Transport Association, jet fuel prices averaged $179.46 per barrel as of April 24, down from a peak of around $209 per barrel in the first week of April.
