Metro Manila, Philippines – The remains of Filipina Lucille Jean Gershovich, who was killed in a missile attack in Haifa, Israel earlier this month, have arrived in the Philippines, the Department of Foreign Affairs said.
The DFA said on Friday, April 17, that Gershovich’s remains arrived in Manila on April 16 and were received by her family.
She was killed on April 5 after a missile struck a residential area in Haifa amid escalating tensions in the Middle East.
The DFA said it extended assistance to the victim’s family, in line with the commitment made by Foreign Affairs Secretary Ma. Theresa Lazaro.
“Following through on the commitment, the DFA extended all necessary assistance to the family, including facilitating the shipment of Mrs. Gershovich’s remains from Israel to her home province in Lanao del Norte,” the agency said.
The assistance was coordinated through the Philippine Embassy in Tel Aviv, the Office of the Undersecretary for Migration Affairs, and the Consular Office in Clarin.
