Metro Manila, Philippines — Select vehicle types will have discounted toll on for two months effective March 23, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) said.
The agency said President Bongbong Marcos wrote to Transportation Secretary Giovanni Lopez and Toll Regulatory Board (TRB) Executive Director Jay Art Tugade that major tollway concessionaires and operators have expressed their voluntary implementation of a temporary toll discount for “essential transport sectors.”
The discount covers Class 1 public utility vehicles (PUVs)/jeepneys, Class 2 public utility buses (PUBs), and Class 3 vehicles engaged in freight services, such as those involved in logistics and the transport of essential goods.
“Dahil malaking tulong ito sa ating mga PUV drivers, commuters, pati na rin sa ating mga mamimili at mga negosyante sa kabila ng kinakaharap nating krisis ngayon sa langis,” Lopez said, thanking the toll operators for their initiative amid soaring gas prices affecting the transportation industry.

The tollway concessionaires are San Miguel Corporation and Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation
The DOTr said Class 1 vehicles may save up to ₱18 per end-to-end trip, while Class 2 and Class 3 vehicles may save as much as ₱42 and ₱72 per trip, respectively.
“Toll discounts will be provided through rebates, which will be credited weekly to all qualified vehicles,” it said in a statement.
The discount may be extended upon review, the agency said.
