Metro Manila, Philippines – After a short stint in the United States, Kieffer Alas is coming home to play for the Ateneo de Manila University Blue Eagles beginning in UAAP Season 89.
The former Gilas Pilipinas Youth standout made the announcement on Tuesday, March 3.
Alas suited up for De La Salle-Zobel in the UAAP juniors, where he averaged 20.1 points, 11.1 rebounds, and 4.9 assists to win the Most Valuable Player award in Season 87.
He then trained in Australia before deciding to move to Utah Prep Academy where he was coached by Mark Dickel, who is Ateneo Blue Eagles head coach Tab Baldwin’s protégé.
Kieffer will have a chance to play for his father, Louie, who serves as one of Baldwin’s assistant coaches.
Alas joins the list of blue chip recruits for Ateneo which includes 2025 Palarong Pambansa Most Valuable Player Rene Baterbonia of Ateneo de Davao and Jacob Lacson of Ateneo de Cebu.
Kieffer will be a big boost to the rebuilding Blue Eagles that finished at sixth place in Season 88 and missed the Final Four in the last two seasons.
