3 in 10 Filipinos encountered cheating, more chose to “restore trust” – survey

Metro Manila, Philippines – Almost three in 10 Filipinos have encountered and witnessed cheating, while over 40 percent chose to restore trust, a survey ahead of Valentine’s Day showed.

In a poll released by the Social Weather Stations on Wednesday, Feb. 12, 27 percent said they were cheated in a relationship.

Respondents said physical and emotional cheating were the most common experiences.

Others also witnessed financial cheating, which involves lying about their spending.

Cyber cheating was also mentioned, or those engaging in romantic and sexual activities online.

On the other hand, 43 percent said trust can still be restored, which is higher than the 36 percent who said they have lost trust in their cheating partner.

The survey had around 1,200 respondents with a ±3% margin of error. It was held on Nov. 24 to 30.
