Metro Manila, Philippines – The National University (NU) Lady Bulldogs will begin their volleyball title retention quest against the University of Santo Tomas (UST) Golden Tigresses in UAAP Season 88 on Sunday, Feb. 15.
Game time is at 3 p.m. at the Mall of Asia (MOA) Arena in Pasay City.
Under the leadership of new head coach Regine Diego, it will be interesting to see the Lady Bulldogs seek their third straight title without their stars Bella Belen and Alyssa Solomon as well as Sheena Toring and Erin Pangilinan.
Season 87 juniors Most Valuable Player Sam Cantada is expected to take on a huge role for NU alongside Vange Alinsug and former Best Setter Lams Lamina.
On the other hand, the Golden Tigresses will be led by Detdet Pepito with familiar faces Angge Poyos, Regina Jurado, Cassie Carballo, and the return of Jonna Perdido and Xyza Gula.
UST will be mentored by Shaq delos Santos, the last coach who brought the women’s volleyball crown in España back in 2010.
The Adamson University Lady Falcons clash with the Ateneo Blue Eagles in the first match on Feb. 15 at 1 p.m.
Meanwhile, the University of the Philippines Fighting Maroons battle the University of the East Lady Warriors in the curtain raiser at 1 p.m. on Feb. 14 to be followed by a meeting between the De La Salle University Lady Spikers and Far Eastern University Lady Tamaraws at 3 p.m. also at the MOA Arena.
