Metro Manila, Philippines – The Department of Justice (DOJ) has issued subpoenas to Senator Jinggoy Estrada, former Public Works Secretary Manny Bonoan, and detained former Senator Ramon “Bong” Revilla in the investigation on the alleged flood control corruption scandal.

DOJ spokesperson Polo Martinez confirmed the issuance of the subpoenas on Tuesday, Jan. 27, in connection with plunder complaints filed by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI).

The subpoenas require the respondents to appear at the preliminary investigations on Feb. 2 and 12.

Bonoan and Estrada are co-respondents in one case, although the DOJ has yet to disclose further details.

Meanwhile, Revilla is detained at the Quezon City Jail over a separate case involving malversation of public funds – a non-bailable offense – linked to an anomalous flood control project in Pandi, Bulacan.

Estrada, Bonoan, and Revilla have all denied involvement in the alleged flood control scam, in which government officials and contractors allegedly conspired to misuse and pocket flood control funds.
