
Metro Manila, Philippines – Malacañang suspended classes and work in government offices in a number of areas on Friday, Sept. 26, to brace for the impact of Severe Tropical Storm Opong (international name: Bualoi).
In a memorandum circular released on Thursday, the Palace said government work is suspended tomorrow in Metro Manila, Biliran, Samar Island, Masbate, Romblon, and Sorsogon.
It directed agencies responsible for basic, vital and health services, preparedness and response duties to remain operational.

The weather bureau has raised storm alerts in parts of the country.
It said “Opong” was 225 kilometers east of Borongan City, Eastern Samar as of 4 p.m.
