Marcos urges Thailand, Cambodia to settle border conflict

Metro Manila, Philippines – President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. urged Thailand and Cambodia to settle their border rift amid continuous clashes.

The conflict between the two Association of Southeast Asian Nation (ASEAN) members erupted when a Cambodian soldier was killed during a skirmish in May.

โ€œThe Philippines views with concern the ongoing conflict between our two fellow ๐—”๐—ฆ๐—˜๐—”๐—ก ๐— ๐—ฒ๐—บ๐—ฏ๐—ฒ๐—ฟ ๐—ฆ๐˜๐—ฎ๐˜๐—ฒ๐˜€ and urge them to resolve the dispute in accordance with international law and the peaceful settlement of disputes,โ€ Marcos said in a statement on Saturday, July 26.โ€œThe Philippines stands ready to assist in any way to restore peace,โ€ he added.Based on reports, the death toll from the conflict has surpassed 30. More than 130,000 individuals have been displaced.
