Metro Manila, Philippines — Immigration Commissioner Norman Tansingco will be relieved from his post due to several issues, his superior Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla said on Monday, Sept. 9.
Remulla said he has recommended Tansingco’s removal to President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. in light of a number of issues, including the escape of former Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo and work visa issuance.
He added that the president has agreed to his recommendation.
“I’m not satisfied. Marami kami naging problema na [We had a lot of problems],” Remulla said in a chance interview.
“If I were him, I’d resign already. Mag-resign na lang siya [He should just resign],” he also said.
Tansingco, in a Senate hearing on the same day, said he has not officially received the information about his removal, and only heard it from the media.
Guo fled the country without a trace from the immigration system and was arrested in Indonesia. She has been linked to offshore-gaming related crimes
