Metro Manila (CNN Philippines) — Gilas Pilipinas ensured there would be no more upsets as they capped off the preliminary round with a resounding 110-64 victory over Kuwait in the 2015 FIBA Asia Championship on Friday (September 25) in Changsha, China.
Terrence Romeo logged in his most productive minutes in the tournament for the Philippines, leading his side with 19 markers, two assists, and two steals.
Gilas Pilipinas took the game by the scruff of the neck early on, limiting Kuwait’s scoring in the first half to lead 44-11 with five minutes before the halftime break.
That set the tone for the rest of the game as the Philippines continued to pile on the misery for Kuwait, who could not create a run of their own to trim the deficit.
Gilas would go on to finish the game comfortably with a 110-64 scoreline.
The Philippines progress into the second round of the competition in Group E, where the likes of Iran, Japan, and India lie in wait.
The first game of Group E is set to tip-off on Sunday (September 27).
