Metro Manila (CNN Philippines) — Malacañan confirmed on Saturday afternoon (September 12) that Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Secretary Gregory Domingo had quit his Cabinet post.
Communications Secretary Herminio “Sonny” Coloma, Jr. said Domingo submitted a letter of resignation, although President Benigno Aquino III had yet to respond on the matter as it was still “under consideration.”
“Executive Secretary Paquito Ochoa, Jr. is awaiting word from the president regarding this matter,” Coloma said.
Earlier in the day, a news report quoting unnamed sources published by the Philippine Star said Domingo had been feeling “burned out” so he decided to tender his resignation effective next month.
Domingo was among the original members of the Aquino Cabinet since 2010.
