Metro Manila (CNN Philippines) — The eye of Typhoon Soudelor remained outside Philippine territory as of 4:00 a.m. on Wednesday (August 5), according to the 5:00 a.m. bulletin issued by the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).
PAGASA spotted the typhoon at 1,495 km east of Calayan, Cagayan. It was moving 20 kph west-northwest with maximum sustained winds of 215 kph near the center and a gustiness of up to 250 kph.
Meanwhile, southwest monsoon rains may trigger flash floods and landslides in Mindanao, which will also have moderate to strong winds blowing from the southwest to west. Coastal waters in the region will be moderate to rough.
The Visayas, along with Palawan, will have cloudy skies with light to moderate rainfall and isolated thunderstorms.
Luzon, including Metro Manila, will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated thunderstorms.
The rest of the country will have light to moderate winds blowing from the southwest-west. These areas will have slight to moderate seas.
