Metro Manila (CNN Philippines) — The FEU Lady Tamaraws put the UP Diliman Lady Maroons to the sword after sweeping them in three straight sets, 25-20, 25-20, 25-19, in their Group A clash in the Shakey’s V-League Collegiate Conference on Sunday (August 2) at the San Juan Arena.
The Lady Tamaraws relied on steady production from Jovelyn Gonzaga, who chipped in with 19 points.
The Diliman based squad had no joy on the day, failing to put a stop to the green and gold’s dominance in the competition.
Maria Molde led the Lady Maroons with nine points.
The FEU Lady Tamaraws stays perfect in the Collegiate Conference with a record of 4-0, while the UP Lady Maroons fall to 2-2.
In the second match, it took four sets for the UST Golden Tigresses to get the victory over the Technological Institute of the Philippines Lady Engineers, 25-16, 25-19, 24-26, 25-14.
Golden Tigress EJ Laure guided UST to victory, notching 16 attacks and two blocks.
It took three sets for the Lady Engineers to get the better of UST, edging them in a hard fought third set, 26-24.
Unfortunately for TIP, the Golden Tigresses took over the fourth set and took the win in dominant fashion.
The España-based squad saw their record improve to 3-1 in Group B, while TIP stayed at the cellar of the standings with a 1-3 slate.
In the final contest, NU bested PUP in straight sets, 25-15, 25-18, 25-15.
Alyja Santiago led by example for NU, contributing 12 points in the win.
PUP had no answer from the UAAP squad, as they were outdone in every set.
Syra Romo took charge for PUP with 10 points.
NU better themselves in Group A with a 3-1 slate, while PUP remain winless in the competition at 0-4.
