SEA Games Football: Philippines falls short against Singapore

(CNN Philippines) — The Philippines U-23 Men’s Football team dropped their first assignment with a 1-0 loss in the South East Asian (SEA) Games against host nation Singapore on Monday (June 1).

The Philippines did well to hold back the Singaporeans in the first 45 minutes of their first fixture of the 2015 SEA Games.

But the hosts would not be denied as Sheikh Sh Othman headed in a free kick right before half time.

After the break the Filipinos turned out to be be more aggressive side but couldn’t knock down the Singaporean defense.

The Singaporeans resisted everything the Filipinos threw and held on to claim the 1-0 victory.

The Philippines will play Cambodia on Wednesday as their next opponent.
