(CNN Philippines) — Criminals beware, you are being watched.
To deter crimes, 300 closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras will be installed in crime-prone areas in Metro Manila, the Philippine National Police (PNP) said Wednesday (May 6).
“This will serve as a warning to individuals and groups who have criminal intent because they are being watched behind these CCTVs,” Deputy Director General Leonardo Espina, PNP officer-in-charge, said.

CCTV as evidence
Police have at times used CCTV footage to analyze crimes.
In 2014, the Manila Police District used footage captured by CCTV to identify the men who accompanied hazing victim Guillo Servando.
In the video, provided by the condominium One Archer’s Place, two men were shown dragging the lifeless Servando.
He was later brought to the Philippine General Hospital where he was declared dead.
