(CNN Philippines) — Import AZ Reid and Marcio Lassiter went berserk in the third quarter to lift the San Miguel Beer past GlobalPort Batang Pier, 124-102, in their Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) Governors’ Cup encounter at the Cuneta Astrodome Sunday (May 17).
Reid and Lassiter combined for 35 of the team’s total output in the penultimate period to turn the game into a clinic and ultimately deal GlobalPort its first loss in four games.
San Miguel Beer improved to a 2-2 win-loss haul following two straight setbacks to start the season-ending conference.

Reid shot nine three-pointers, including four consecutive in the third canto, on his way to game-high 41 points. He also collared nine boards and dished out two assists.
Lassiter, who was involved in trade rumors, pumped in 24 points on 5-of-7 shooting from beyond the arc.
“It was an amazing game from AZ and Lassiter. The past games they were not making those shots,” said San Miguel coach Leo Austria said of his two prized cagers.
“I salute them kasi kita mo yung focus nila talaga sa game.”
Meanwhile, GlobalPort import Steve Thomas had 21 points.
But it was Terrence Romeo who tried to light up Batang Pier’s flickering hopes with a 13-point outburst in the final quarter. Romeo also finished with 21 markers.
Unfortunately, it only gave GlobalPort a brief reprieve as the Beermen restored order and pulled away for good with a balanced attack led by point guard Alex Cabagnot.
