(CNN Philippines) — The Court of Appeals has extended indefinitely its restraining order against Makati Mayor Jejomar Erwin “Junjun” Binay’s suspension.
In a resolution issued Monday afternoon (April 6), the appellate court’s sixth division granted Binay’s request for a writ of preliminary injunction against an Ombudsman order suspending him for six months due to a pending probe on the alleged overpriced Makati City Hall Building II.
The court directed Binay to post a P500,000 bond for any damages that may be caused by the preliminary injunction if the court should later decide that the petitioner is not entitled to it.
Binay also has a petition for certiorari contesting his suspension pending before the appellate court.
The CA had previously issued a temporary restraining order (TRO) against the suspension.

The Department of the Interior and Local Government, however, refused to honor the TRO which prompted Binay to file a contempt plea.

The court has yet to decide on Binay’s petition for contempt against individuals who do not honor the CA’s TRO against his suspension.
